Wavy redhead Kelly Nichols became a hall-of-infamy-quality porn starlet, but she didn’t start out that way. With her sunshine-bright cheerleader face and lithe, streamlined bod, Kelly made a quick stop on the Penthouse Pet stepping stone and tried to rocket herself from that platform into Hollywood stardom. Kelly was a stunt double for Jessica Lange in the blockbuster King Kong (1976). She replaced the legendary actress for the scenes where she needed to be squeezed by Kong’s hands, which were actually giant hydraulic presses. So we see very little of Kelly in the film; she didn’t even receive a credit. Thankfully, a long and lingering look at Kelly from the front and back is the highlight of the slasher flick The Toolbox Murders (1978), her official screen debut and screen nudity debut. After being pursued in the buff throughout Toolbox, Kelly went to work with her own box and ratcheted up a string of suckcesses with triple-X tools throughout the 1980s. Model Behavior (1984) is full of models, including Nichols and Veronica Hart and Missy O’Shea, who are on their worst behavior–in a good way, of course! Again in the company of other topless tarts, Kelly bared her boobs in Deathmask (1984). Sure enough, she also delivered the goods in Delivery Boys (1985), which is one of her mainstream credits. She scored a few more mainstream roles before transitioning fully to adult work in the 1990s. Around that same time she made another unique career change by becoming a porn makeup artist!
